this morning, there's another video out by mother jones. obama campaign seize as romney harvest video. president obama's campaign on thursday seized on a 1985 video of mitt romney in which he discusses bain capital's business strategy, including buying stakes in undervalued companies and then planning to, within five to eight years, harvest them at a significant profit. the video was posted by the liberal mother jones magazine on thursday, the same publication that last week posted an undercover video from one of romney's closed-door fundraisers and was apparently from a cd-rom created in 1998 to commemorate the 25th anniversary of bain. here's a little bit of that 1985 video. >> bain capital is an investment partnership which was formed to invest in start-up companies and ongoing companies, then to take an active hand in managing them, and hopefully five to eight years later, to harvest them at a significant profit. the fund was formed on september 30 of last year. it's been about 10 months. it was formed with $37 million in invested cash, an additional $15 million or so of what i'll

doubles down on obama's strategy with this video that came out. so they're in a real situation here and they've got a short time to right it. >> it's offensive if you unpack and think about it. what he's saying is we're all stupid. we don't remember that the polls have shown republicans up a lot. and secondly this idea that people in the media, if their personal views go one way, the product of the reporting goes another way. i don't think there's resonating with the public at all. if you go back to important media failures like the iraq war or the financial crisis, on iraq there may have been a lot of reporters who were personally skeptical but there was a collective media failure in the way they covered it. so the idea that someone's personal views are always going to represent them in what they write or how they report, i don't think that computes, i think you would have to be dumb or tuned out to buy the crap that paul ryan is peddling there. >> and then there's the question of who is the real arnold schwarzenegger. thank you for joining me. >> thank you lawrence. >>> coming up.

't bring up the 47% video because it has been devastating to romney. obama has used it in ads and it plays into the perception of romney as a very rich guy who is completely out of touch with ordinary voters. however, i can't imagine that romney hasn't are practiced responses to that. he's already had an ad where he sits down, faces the camera, he tries to assure voters that he wants to help 100% of americans, everybody. but the danger for romney is seeming fake or false when he tries to connect. he has, no doubt, practiced a lot, rehearsed a lot. he has a lot of answers already planned but can he seem genuine when he's given that answer -- those answers as something to watch out for? >> now, erin, the 47%, according to all polling, has really crushed romney. the latest poll shows 45% of americans said it gave them a more negative view of romney. now the polls show 55% had a negative reaction. so he has to deal with it if it comes up and it's likely to come up. you heard cynthia say that he's had to have some kind of answer and he's had to have an answer. >> his campaign had said earlier t
